Our Editorial Team
Our editorial team comprises D&T teachers and academics.

Drew Wicken
Drew is primarily based at Co-op Academy Stoke-on-Trent but also works with all academies across the Co-op Academies Trust supporting and challenging academies in all areas regarding Design & Technology. Drew also works for a leading examination board, supporting, developing and moderating different level 2 qualifications.

Dr Sarah Davies
Sarah Davies is a Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Education at Nottingham Trent University. She is Assistant Course Leader for MA Education. Sarah also leads the Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education with international partners, and she teaches on the design and technology subject strand within the Secondary Initial Teacher Education course.

Claire Vickery
Claire is the D&T subject specialist for the Mid-Somerset Consortium and head of the D&T department within a rural secondary school. Alongside these roles, Claire is an active member of the D&T community, recently presenting her research at PATT39 and is working towards her doctorate in education.

Alison Hardy
Dr Alison Hardy is a senior lecturer in Nottingham Institute of Education. She is course leader for the MA Education within the Institute and co-leads three modules: Research Skills, Coaching and Mentoring in Education Settings and Dissertation Study. She also supervises doctoral candidates.
Additionally, Alison facilitates writing retreats for academic staff and postgraduate students.

Daniela Schillaci-Rowland
Daniela has been teaching Design and Technology since 2004, when she graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London. She has taught Design and Technology in three schools, all with slightly different outlooks on the subject, but all valuing the opportunities it offers young people. Her current school is an all-girls school in Hertfordshire, that has a good uptake of Design and Technology. Daniela has been a guest on Alison Hardy's podcast, 'Talking D&T', which then led to becoming a member of the Design and Technology Steering Group. More recently she presented at PATT39 along with Matt McLain, which she said was a real privilege.

RICHARD BROWN
Richard is a full time Headteacher at a small primary school in Cambridgeshire. He also works on the Faculty of Education teaching team at the University of Cambridge delivering the PGCE D&T sessions to PGCE Primary students and delivers similar sessions to two local SCITT hubs. Richard has a BEd in Primary D&T and has recently completed his MEd with the focus upon D&T and critical thinking.

Dr Matt McLain
Matt is a senior lecturer in education and professional learning at Liverpool John Moores University, with a research interest in design and technology education. Previously, Matt taught D&T for 12 years and was a teacher educator at LJMU for another 12. He is also a D&T Association trustee and PATT40 Liverpool 2023 chair.
