Researching D&T

Welcome to the Researching D&T website, created for D&T teachers to find and use published research about design and technology education.

The site aims to provide teachers with a portal to interesting, exciting, and relevant D&T research to be used to improve and develop current classroom, curriculum and leadership practices in D&T.

The site is curated by an editorial board of teachers, academics and researchers. Most of the board are current D&T teachers who have an interest in, or have done some research about D&T. The board came together in June 2022 at PATT39, an international D&T conference to talk about what research we needed to develop the subject. A key action this was to create this website because we all realised there was research out there but it was often difficult to find. We hope this website goes some way to resolving that problem.

We are still developing the site and welcome comments or suggestions via the contribute page.

We have ideas for creating space to share your research, blog posts about how D&T teachers have used published work to develop or reflect on their D&T education practice, and notices inviting teachers to take part in research projects. It will take time to do this, so be patient, but in the meantime, have a look around – we suggest you start with the resources page.
